The former AFC Leopards' tactician has been suspended and handed a
fine for allegedly causing violence during a top league duel against
AS Kigali

Rwanda Football Federation has handed Rayon Sports unprecedented
punishments following their violent conduct during last week's league
match against AS Kigali at Amahoro Stadium.

After reviewing footage of ugly incidents and match referee report as
well as security commissioner, Ferwafa's disciplinary committee, led
by Joseph Kajangwe, handed out punishments ranging from six months to
two-year bans on top of fines of between Rwf50,000 and Rwf500, 000.

The tough punishments were announced to the media on Friday at
federation's headquarters by Ferwafa vice president Veduste Kayiranga.

Rwanda newspaper New Times has reported that among the penalties,
Rayon Sports will play their last league match against Musanze behind
closed doors, while their Belgian head coach Luc Eymael, who has shown
interest in becoming next Amavubi coach, has been banned for two years
and handed a fine of Rwf0.5 million.

The club will also pay for damages caused by their fans after they
vandalized property at Amahoro Stadium, damaging the vehicle of second
assistant referee Ambroise Hakizimana.

Lead striker Cedric Amissi, who attacked match referee Gervais
Munyanziza, has been suspended for six months and fined Rwf50,000.

Rayon Sports Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya, who is reported to
have mobilized fans and encouraged them to sing 'anti-Degaule' chants
aimed at Ferwafa chairman Vincent Nzamwita, has been banned from
stadiums for two years and handed a fine of Rwf500,000.

While the head of Rayon Sports fans' club Claude Muhawenimana, has
also been hit with a two-year ban from football stadiums and fined
Rwf500,000.

The banned officials have until Sunday, April 27, to appeal against
the decisions. It is the first time such tough measures have been
taken against any official in Rwandan football.

Aucun autre pays n'a encore ...

Paul Kagame: “We refuse to remove defensive measures"

Paul Kagame Refuses to Implement the Washington Accords and UN Security Council Resolution 2773: Analysis and Implications In an exclusive interview published on 3 April 2026, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda openly confirmed that Rwandan forces are deployed in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, rejected calls for their withdrawal, dismissed US sanctions as illegitimate, and signalled clear satisfaction with the current military status quo. This briefing examines what Kagame said, what his remarks mean for the Washington Accords, and what concrete steps the United States must now take if it wishes to restore credibility to its diplomacy in the Great Lakes region. Introduction: A Confession Wrapped in Grievance The interview, conducted by François Soudan and published in Jeune Afrique on 3 April 2026, is one of the most candid public statements Paul Kagame has made on Rwanda's military role in the DRC. Its significance does not lie in revealing something previously unknown. Th...
