On Sunday 22 June 2014, the Rwandan National Congress (RNC) youth in South Africa met in an extraordinary congress in Cape Town. The RNC youth wishes to inform Rwandan and the international community on the following.
Realizing that the Rwandan government headed by President Paul Kagame continues to unapologetically kill, murder, massacre and abduct Rwandans in enforced disappearances, detaining them on trumpeted- up allegations in addition to its segregationist and impoverishment policies of a segment of the population whereas wealth is concentrated in the hands of a clique in the corridor of power around the President;
Considering that, without a shadow of doubt, President Kagame's Government murdered RNC Comrade Colonel Patrick Karegeya on 31 December 2013 and thereafter issued irresponsible, provocative and rude statements portraying the departed as deserving the death he died;
Considering that subsequently after Karegeya's murder agents operating under President Kagame's direct orders on 5 March 2014 attacked the residence of comrade General Kayumba Nyamwasa with the aim of murdering him as well and that he survived, thanks to God;
Considering the irresponsible, inciting and arrogant utterances President Kagame delivered at Nyabihu in the Western Province of Rwanda on 05 June 2014 stating that in addition to kidnapping and enforced disappearances, his government is going to shoot at the peaceful civilian population of Rwanda in broad day on suspicion of endangering state security;
Considering that on 15 June 2014 security services shot at one Eric Hakizimana while in police custody and handcuffed alleging that the attempted to flee;
Considering Rwanda National Congress policy that promotes Rwandan youth development, contribution and participation in solving the problems that Rwanda encounters today;
Rwanda National Congress Youth in South Africa organized and met in an extraordinary congress in Cape Town on 22 June 2014 and resolved for the following
- The RNC youth in South Africa acknowledges and thanks the RNC leadership and particularly supports its efforts and unreserved commitment in the struggle to free Rwanda from tyranny and dictatorship. The leadership has been instrumental in highlighting to the Rwandan people and the world at large Kagame's politics of deceit, fear, intimidation and threats. The leadership has awaken Rwandans and encouraged them to overcome fear, unite in view to free themselves from a dictatorship regime that continues to oppress and murder the people of Rwanda
- The RNC youth strongly condemn state-sponsored murders and killings, brutality and carelessness that President Paul Kagame continues to rely on to ensure his hold on power and his irresponsible style of governance.
- The RNC youth calls on President Kagame for an unconditional and immediate release of all political prisoners and all those who are detained for expressing their opinions as a fundamental human right
- The RNC youth calls upon all Rwandans wherever they are throughout the world in particular the youth to stop its passivity, rather to unite and support the efforts of the RNC leadership in view to get rid of the tyranny that is heading for our extermination
- The RNC youth calls upon the international community in particular the United Nations to take comprehensive, acceptable and immediate measures against President Kagame to ensure that he stops killings, torture, abductions, enforced disappearances, trumpeted-up charges or any other forms of mistreatment against the people of Rwanda. The RNC youth reminds the United Nations of its passivity in the years leading up to and in the course of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and its failure to intervene. After the genocide, Rwandans continued to be killed inside and outside Rwanda, like in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as per the UN Mapping Report 2010 which has been shelved without adequate action being taken
- The RNC youth calls upon the African Union (AU), the Southern African Development and Economic Community (SADEC), the East African Community (EAC) to seriously consider the situation of Rwanda and take adequate measures to ensure that the brutality, ruthlessness and tyranny against the people of Rwanda by President Kagame stops immediately
- The RNC youth is cognizant of the continued efforts of the South African Government in ensuring the security of all Rwandans who live in it. We call upon the SA Government to thoroughly investigate and bring to book the assassins and accomplices in the murder of Colonel Patrick Karegeya on 31 December 2013 as well as all those who attacked or facilitated the attack at the residence of General Kayumba Nyamwasa in March 2014.
- The RNC youth calls upon President Paul Kagame for open, unconditional and unreserved talks with all political opposition without undue delaying tactics or justifications. We call upon President Kagame to particularly consider the call from the RNC leadership when he still has chance to do so.
- The RNC youth Congress instituted a South African based RNC Youth League – South Africa , named INTAGANZWA whose objectives, goals and strategies will be communicated soon
- The RNC youth in South Africa will extend its initiative beyond the South African borders and beyond the RNC platform with a particular focus on Rwanda to ensure that the country is rid of Paul Kagame's tyranny and dictatorship in the near future

Why We Exist
Many abuses facing African people are committed by African states, ruling elites, armed groups, military forces and security services. But these abuses are often sustained by international silence, Western lobbying, trade interests, migration deals, mineral access, diplomatic partnerships and unequal global accountability.
Africa Realities Media exposes that system.

Survivors, displaced communities, refugees, families affected by repression, journalists, activists, women, young people and diaspora voices are not passive subjects. They are knowledge holders.

Why Africa Realities Media Is Different
Africa Realities Media speaks to Africa and to the developed world. Many abuses facing African people are committed by African states and ruling elites, but they are often protected by international silence, lobbying, public relations, trade interests, migration deals and unequal global accountability. While governments pay lobbyists to present a good image abroad, ordinary African people continue to face violence, hunger, disease, poverty, repression and exclusion. We challenge the normalisation of African suffering and demand equal truth, equal justice and equal protection.
Pourquoi Africa Realities Media est différent?
Africa Realities Media s’adresse à l’Afrique et au monde développé. De nombreux abus subis par les peuples africains sont commis par des États africains et des élites dirigeantes, mais ils sont souvent protégés par le silence international, le lobbying, les relations publiques, les intérêts commerciaux, les accords migratoires et une responsabilité mondiale inégale. Tandis que des gouvernements paient des lobbyistes pour présenter une bonne image à l’étranger, des Africains ordinaires continuent de faire face à la violence, à la faim, aux maladies, à la pauvreté, à la répression et à l’exclusion. Nous contestons la normalisation de la souffrance africaine et exigeons une vérité égale, une justice égale et une protection égale.

We want governments and institutions to address the root causes of inequality, disadvantage, discrimination, exclusion and barriers affecting African people. We believe lasting change must be shaped by people with lived experience.
Exposing Injustice in Africa
Africa Realities Media is an independent African accountability platform based in London. We report, analyse and challenge the systems that shape African suffering, silence African victims and protect abusive power.
We are not here to repeat diplomatic language. We are here to ask the questions that are often avoided: why are African deaths treated as normal? Why are African victims given less urgency? Why are governments that imprison, exclude, displace or kill their own people protected when they serve powerful international interests?
Africa Realities Media gives space to writers, researchers, experts, activists, community voices, campaigners, analysts and people with lived experience who want to contribute thoughtful, responsible and courageous content about the changes needed in the region, as well as the political, economic, cultural and social African realities that are often ignored, minimised or misrepresented.
Our articles and videos aim to encourage debate, raise awareness, stimulate critical thinking and support reflection. We seek to help people in the Great Lakes Region understand their rights to human rights, development and wellbeing, while also encouraging decision-makers to be more transparent, responsive and accountable.
